Robby Gordon is up to it once again, but this time he is teasing something big coming to Speed UTV. This isn’t a new vehicle to the lineup, but a package that will make the Speed UTV the highest horsepower side-by-side on the market.
Gordon spoke in the Speed UTV Live Presentation No. 108 about Polaris and Can-Am wanting to play in a horsepower game with him and Speed UTV. The tease that Gordon gave everyone is that the Speed UTV was designed to be able to fit an LS7.
Not only would this engine combo be the highest horsepower out of any make, it would also be the first production side-by-side to have a V8. The LS7 is rated at 505 horsepower, but with some modifications, the engine can easily make more horsepower.
“An LS7 does fit into the back of a Speed UTV,” Gordon stated in the video. “They (Polaris and Can-Am) want to come up with 1,300 ccs and 2,000 ccs, so we will just step it up to 7,000 ccs, and let’s play the game. I look forward to competing against them with a V8 to their four-cylinder.”
There looks to be 200 special edition, LS7-powered, 700 horsepower, all-wheel drive Speed UTVs based on what was discussed in the presentation. This vehicle is something that Gordon plans to race in the Pro Unlimited UTV class.
What is nicknamed the “Mad Max” edition, this news is huge for the side-by-side market and it will be interesting to wait and see how this plays out. For more information on Speed UTV, be sure to check out their website.
